From Instrument Skills to Instrument Instructor

Our step-by-step training roadmap outlines the exact path to becoming a Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII). Each stage builds on your existing skills and instructional experience, providing the advanced knowledge, teaching techniques, and practical flight training required to earn your CFII certificate. From refining your instrument flying abilities to developing the tools to effectively teach others, this roadmap shows how we guide you through every milestone on your journey to becoming a confident, qualified instrument instructor.

GROUND TRAINING

Ground training equips you with the knowledge needed to pass both of the FAA Knowledge Exam and the FAA Practical Exam. This portion of your training ensures you're fully prepared for the written test and confident for the oral portion of your check ride.

- Estimated 10 Hours of Ground School

  • Covers all topics in the PTS

FLIGHT TRAINING

During instrument instructor training, you’ll refine your IFR skills and develop the ability to safely, confidently, and effectively teach others to fly by reference to instruments. You'll focus on advanced instrument procedures, instructional techniques, and real-world scenarios—building the foundation to not only fly to a high standard but to pass that knowledge on to your future instrument students.

- Estimated 8 Hours of Dual Flight Training

CHECK-RIDE PREP

The final phase of your training ensures you're fully ready to earn your certificate. We’ll make sure all FAA time and experience requirements are met, and focus on refining your skills and knowledge so you feel confident and prepared to pass your check ride—the practical exam that puts everything you've learned to the test.

Verify Eligibility Requirements

Before beginning your Instrument Flight Instructor training, we’ll help you verify that you meet all FAA eligibility requirements. What Our Students Are Saying

At Azure Aviation Academy, we’re proud of the success and experiences our students achieve. But don’t just take our word for it—hear directly from the students who have trained with us. Their stories and feedback reflect our commitment to quality instruction, personalized support, and helping every student reach their aviation goals.

“Great experience!!!! Sebastian was great and very knowledgeable. He was easy to fly with very laid back. He gave me everything that I needed to have a successful checkride. I did my CFI-I training with him. Facility’s were top notch.”

- Stephen Stewart

“I did my CFI training with Sebastian, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone! We worked through the FOIs and then did practice lessons on the ground and in the air, and he gave me lots of insights on how to make lessons easier for student pilots to understand. By the end I was absolutely prepared for my check ride. We went through training at my pace, taking breaks when my schedule needed, and meeting frequently when I had more time.”

- Jayson Macho
